Financial assistance and alumni development services Jonathan can provide for you:
Financial Assistance Support:

  • Funding resources and avenues -- are we making the best use of the Educational Foundation and its services?
  • Establishing, reviewing and maintaining annual budgets -- including goal setting, and strategic planning
  • Cost control -- establishing discretionary spending limits for officers, approval processes, etc.
  • Collections/accounts payable -- this is a Fraternity, and yes we have bills as well and we must hold our brothers account to fulfill their financial responsibility.

General chapter management services Jonathan can provide for you: Chapter Management:

  • The effective means to run a chapter meeting and reward those members that actual show up.
  • How to use the "Chapter Management" BRIEF to increase productivity.
  • Delegation--the reasons why getting others involved can be a morale booster.
  • Attendance-- will a majority of the XYZ Chapter be at this event? And if not, how can we get the members to be present?
  • Chapter Housing-- Living in a clean chapter house can actually help with alumni development, new member retention, recruitment, and even finances.
    General questions that lettered officers or committee members may have.

Background:

Background: Brother Larson graduated from the University of Iowa in 2002 with a degree in Economics. While a student at Iowa, Jonathan was heavily involved in his Delta Chi chapter, serving as pledge class president, scholarship chairman, two terms as Chapter "A", and was twice selected as Brother of the Year. He was also a member of the Interfraternity Council serving as New Member Education Advisor, Greek Week executive Council, Homecoming Council, Founder and President of Beta Tau Delta Tau Honors Fraternity, Founder of the Association for Virginia People, Iowa Men's Soccer team, was awarded the 2002 Interfraternity Council's "Fraternalism Award", and served as an intern at the Delta Chi International Headquarters during his senior year. After graduation he moved back to Burke, VA and began work as a defense contractor supporting the US Navy while also earning his MBA from American University in 2006. He currently serves as the Director of Operations for the Planate Management Group, a Washington, D.C. headquartered defense contractor. Jonathan continued his involvement with Delta Chi following graduation, having served as the James Madison Chapter's ABT Treasurer and Region IX Vice-Regent. He is currently serving the ABT President of the William & Mary Chapter, ABT member of the George Mason Colony, ABT & House Corporation member of the Iowa Chapter, as well as Founder and Treasurer of the Iowa Delta Chi Educational Foundation. Jonathan spends his free time enjoying woodworking/home improvement projects, golfing, playing soccer, and serving as an active member of his church.

Housing Assistance Mike can provide for you:

  • Provide assistance in dealing with housing issues, including housing contracts, house rules, and the overall activities of operating and maintaining a chapter facility.
  • Provide assistance for planning and executing house projects, such as renovation projects like bathrooms, kitchens, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Assist in recruiting alumni, faculty, community leaders, and parents to serve on Housing Corporations by helping “close the deal” speaking peer-to-peer with potential members.

Background

Brother Dichiser graduated from Kansas State University in 1995 with a degree in Computer Science.  While a student at KSU, Mike was involved in his Delta Chi chapter, serving as Recruitment Chairman, where he signed a most notable Delta Chi, named Aaron Otto.  After graduation, Mike served as ABT President for seven years.  He then transitioned to form the Housing Corporation at Kansas State, where he still serves as Housing Corporation President.  Mike is also on a six year term with the Housing Committee where he is involved with housing loans to Delta Chi chapters.  He lives in the Kansas City area and was involved in starting the Kansas City Area Alumni chapter where he serves as Secretary.  Mike is also a Life Loyal Delta Chi.  In addition to his Information Technology profession, he owns a rental property business and deals directly with landlord/tenant issues and is responsible for overall operation and maintenance of those properties.

Recruitment assistance services Jimmy can provide for you:

  • Assist Chapters/Colonies recruitment chairs in understand their responsibilities
  • Assist in creating a recruitment schedule for your chapter/colony in order to better plan ahead for events
  • Discuss methods of budgeting for recruitment to ensure the maximum bang for your buck
  • Review written recruitment plans to identify potential challenges before discovering them the hard way.
  • Assist in organizing recruitment workshops to better train your members on the most up to date techniques
  • Assess and better chapter success in informal, formal or hybrid recruitment systems

Background:

Brother Jones graduated from Northern Colorado University in 2006 with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology. While attending the University of Northern Colorado, Jimmy served as President, Secretary, Brotherhood Chairman, IFC Delegate, Judicial Board Chairman, Philanthropy Chairman, and numerous top positions while in his undergraduate chapter. As a recent “A,” Brother Jones helped his chapter to “revamp” itself from the inside out. Jimmy now is involved in the Housing Corporation and also on the Alumni Board of Trustees, where he took part in redesigning and implementing new ideas and positions within the ABT of the Northern Colorado Chapter. As a career driven individual, Jimmy works as an Estimator for a large construction company and learned many skills through Delta Chi that he uses every day. Aside from the work Brother Jones puts into Delta Chi, he is still a member of the Northern Colorado Small Business Association, the Northern Colorado Alumni Association, and a proud brother of Delta Chi.

  • Developing effective programming to promote personal/professional development.
  • Developing effective Associate Member programming.
  • Developing and promoting good risk management.
  • Developing a crisis plan.
  • Developing an understanding of the ritual, how it works and what it means.

Background:

Brother Gorney graduated from Kansas State University in 2006 with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications and a minor in Leadership Studies. During his time as an undergraduate at Kansas State, Matt spent time as Chapter "E" and was also co-coordinator for the 2005 Region IV Regional Leadership Conference, helping streamline the conference from three days to two and dropping the cost while increasing the amount and quality of programming available to the Brothers who attended. After graduating, Brother Gorney moved his work to the Kansas State Alumni Board of Trustees where he serves as the Communications Adviser to the board. He is also in the process of beginning the first alumni chapter of Delta Chi in Topeka, Kan. Brother Gorney recently left his job as editor of a monthly sports magazine to return to school. He is currently pursuing a masters degree in journalism and a law degree at the University of Kansas.

Alumni relations assistance Matt can provide for you:

  • Provide assistance in dealing with alumni relations issues, publications (design, content and process), messaging, alumni event planning and overall love for your alumni (you°¶ll be one some day).
  • Provide assistance for strategizing long-term plans for alumni development and possible frameworks for future fund raising efforts (plant the acorn now if you want a tree later).
  • Assist in website development and advise on new content sources (and what to watch out for) when communicating information to all publics.
  • Assist in recruiting alumni, faculty/community leaders, & parents to serve on ABTs, Housing Corps, and "BB"
  • Communicate directly peer-to-peer with alumni about the time requirements and responsibilities of serving on an ABT, Housing Corporation, and as "BB".
  • Assist chapters/colonies in establishing or reorganizing ABTs or Housing Corporations into more efficient organizations that support the undergraduates.
  • Answer questions about the alumni initiation ceremony for alumni and graduating seniors.

Background:  

Brother Killingsworth graduated from Kansas State University in 2002 with degrees in Public Relations and Advertising.  While a student at KSU, Matt was involved in his Delta Chi chapter, serving as "A" and Philanthropy Chairman, as well as the campus serving two terms on IFC and as the opinion editor for the K-State Collegian.  After graduation, Matt served as a Leadership Consultant and then as Director of Chapter Services from 2002 to 2007. He worked to revise and further develop the BRIEF system, planned and facilitated the 2005 Delta Chi Leadership College and helped develop the "A"s' Academy program (lead facilitator in 2007). While in Iowa City, Matt was also the organizer and a charter member of the Eastern Iowa Alumni Chapter. He now lives in the Lawrence area working as a senior fundraising consultant for Pennington & Company, the recognized industry leader in fraternity and sorority fundraising for house construction, renovations, endowments, and foundations.  Matt is also a Life Loyal Delta Chi.  In addition to his fraternity fund raising profession, he is also an ABT member for the Washburn Chapter, edits and designs the Kansas State Chapter's newsletter, and also travels recreationally when he's not traveling for work.  Matt also has a passion for sustainable / green technology and its applications in fraternity housing.

Officer Development services that Alex can provide for you:

  • As an undergraduate he has first hand knowledge of the trials and tribulations facing fraternities on campuses today. This provides an opportunity for members to communicate on a peer-to-peer basis.
  • Assist in motivating executive board and chapter members to be more involved with the chapter.
  • Assist with new fundraising ideas, help come up with fun and exciting new ideas to raise chapter funds.
  • Provide tactics for officers (new and old) to gain commitment from general fraternity.
  • Help chapters have a good standing with IHQ on all levels. From first hand experience of being in a troubled state, support can be provided to come up with a action plan to be in good standings with IHQ.

Background:

Alex Beck is currently an undergraduate senior at the Univeristy of Kansas. He is presently pursuing a degree in Human Biology with plans of attedning medical school in the coming years. Alex is set to graduate in the Spring of 2010. During the past three years, Alex has become very involved with both the Kansas Chapter Delta Chi as well as in the greek system at KU. His Delta Chi involvement includes: Chapter President, Chapter Secretary, Philanthropy Chairman, and IFC Delegate. In addition to his efforts within the fraternity, he has also worked with other officers from fraternities at KU. He was elected to the IFC Judicial Board to help assist in hearing and deciding on infractions. Alex has lots of experience in working with officers and developing them to their fullest capability. He actively contributed to the development of succeeding officers at Kansas Chapter Delta Chi and devoted a lot of his efforts in promoting the importance and benefits of involvement amongst this year's associate member class. As "A," Alex continued the expectations of demonstrating exceptional leadership and management at the Kansas Chapter Delta Chi he is more than willing to share his advice and guidance to other chapters in need of sufficient officer development.

Background:

Brother Osthoff graduated from Colorado State in 2007 with a degree in Investment Analysis and Real Estate Finance. As an undergraduate, Gage served his Chapter as “A”, “B”, AMC and various chair positions. Gage also served the Colorado State community as IFC Vice President of Leadership Development and Director of Leadership Development for the student government working to educate the Greek community and young campus leaders. After graduation, Brother Osthoff served Delta Chi as a Leadership Consultant. He now attends graduate school at the University of Denver and serves as ABT President for the Colorado State Chapter. Gage is also a Life Loyal Delta Chi.
